Chadema national chairman and Opposition leader

Despite widespread expectations that he would be in the new
opposition line-up following recent collaboration with other opposition
MPs in the House, where they forced the government to withdraw a motion
it had tabled, this did not occur.
The opposition cabinet named yesterday comprised of MPs from CHADEMA, the Civic United Front (CUF) and NCCR-Mageuzi.
Opposition chief whip Tundu Lissu was named shadow minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, assisted by Abdallah Mtolea.
James Mbatia becomes shadow minister for Works, Transport and Communications and Willy Kambalo is to deputise.
Halima Mdee was picked shadow minister for Finance and Planning while David Silinde is deputy.
Shadow Energy and Minerals minister is John Mnyika, assisted by John Heche.
Ester Matiko and Cecilia Paresso were picked shadow minister and deputy for Tourism and Natural Resources.
Godbless Lema picks up the shadow Home Affairs portfolio with Masoud Abdallah Salim deputising.
For the shadow office of the President -- Regional Administration
and Local Governments - Mbowe appointed Jaffari Michael and Joseph
Mkundi shadow minister and deputy respectively, with Ruth Mollel being
shadow minister for Good Governance.
For the shadow office of the Prime Minister -Labour, Youth,
Employment and Disabled – the opposition leader appointed Ester Bulaya
the shadow minister with two deputies, Yusuph Makame and Maftah
Nachuma.
Other MPs appointed to the shadow cabinet are Peter Msigwa and
Riziki Ngwali who become shadow minister and deputy for Foreign Affairs,
East African, Regional and International Cooperation.
Magdalena Sakaya was appointed shadow minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, assisted by Immaculate Semesi.
The shadow Defense and National Service portfolio will be held Juma Hamad Omar while Mwita Waitara deputises.
The shadow ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender and
Children falls under Dr Godwin Mollel as minister and Zubeda Sakuru
deputy minister.
Anthony Komu and Cecil Mwambe become shadow minister and deputy respectively for Industries, Trade and Investment.
The shadow Water and Irrigation portfoilo wemt to Hamid Hassan as minister and Peter Lijuakali his deputy.
Joseph Mbilinyi became shadow minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports while Devota Minja becomes his deputy.
The shadow Lands, Housing and Human Settlement Development
portfolio went to Wilfred Lwakatare as shadow minister, assisted by
Salum Mgoso.
Susana Lyimo and Ali Suleiman Yusuf were picked shadow minister and
deputy for the shadow Education, Science and Technology -portfolio.
Meanwhile the House yesterday elected a number of MPs to represent
the country in various regional and international parliamentary bodies.
In the SADC Parliamentary Forum, the House elected Jamal Kassim Ali, Suleiman Zedi, Ester Mnessi, Ally Saleh and Margaret Sitta.
For the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), the National
Assembly elected Amina Mollel, Maria Kangoye, Zainab Vullu, Hamis Mtumwa
Ali, Salum Rehani, Jitu Soni, Japhet Asunga, Joseph Kandege, Raphael
Chegeni, Sware Semesi and Tundu Lissu.
On the other hand, MPs elected Pudenciana Kikwembe, Juma Othman
Hija, Mohamed Mchengerwa, Peter Serukamba and Susan Lyimo
representatives in Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
In the Pan African Parliament (PAP), MPs elected Mboni Mhita, Asha
Abdallah, Faustine Ndugulile, Stephen Masele and David Silinde, while
for the Parliamentary Service Commission, MPs picked Kangi Lugola,
Faharia Shomari, Mary Chatanda, Mussa Zungu, Salim Hassan Turki,
Magdalena Sakaya and Peter Msigwa.
