Donating your car to Cars
4 Causes® could result in significant tax savings for you and your
family. Car donations to qualified organizations are tax deductible and
are subject to the rules established by the IRS, as well as the state
in which you reside. To qualify for a tax donation in the current year,
you must donate your car, boat, motorcycle or RV by December 31.

If your vehicle does not sell for more than $500, Cars 4 Causes® will
only send you a vehicle donation receipt. It is up to you to determine
the fair market value of your car donation. You do not need to submit a
copy of this vehicle donation receipt with your tax return. We do
recommend, however, that you save it for your own records.
or - The sales price of the car you donate if it sells for more than $500.
If your vehicle sells for more than $500, Cars 4 Causes® will send you a
vehicle donation receipt and a Form 1098-C. You must attach to your
return Copy B of the Form 1098-C that you receive from Cars 4 Causes.
The Form 1098-C will show the gross proceeds from the sale of the
vehicle.
E-filing Your Return. If you e-file your return and your car sells for more than $500, you must attach Copy B of Form 1098-C to Form 8453 and mail the forms to the IRS.
