Announcing the meeting to journalists, the Permanent Secretary,
Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Hamis Mwinyimvua said the meeting is part
of the implementation of the National Economic Empowerment Policy and is
organised by NEEC and the Prime Minister’s office.
“It will involve participants from the ministries, government
departments and institutions, local government authorities,
nongovernmental organisations and the private sector,” he said.
“This meeting will help coordinate matters related to empowerment to be conducted responsibly and ethically,” he added.
According to Dr. Mwinyimvua, the meeting will among other things,
discuss implementation of the National Economic Empowerment Policy and
recognize efforts of stakeholders who implement it.
“We now plan to hold this meeting annually,” he added.
NEEC Executive Secretary, Beng’i Issa said after the meeting,
empowerment desks will be introduced at the district and regional level
and also in the various ministry departments and will be responsible to
make follow ups, prepare reports and present them to NEEC.
The National Economic Empowerment Strategy is already in place and its guidelines will be inaugurated during the meeting.
